ABOUT THE ALGARVE INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT

The Algarve International Circuit (AIA), with a capacity for 90,000 seated spectators, is part of the Algarve Motorsports Park in Portimão, a complex dedicated to motorsport that includes the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve and various infrastructures offering unique conditions for driving experiences.

The AIA’s inaugural race took place on 2 November 2008, hosting the final round of that year’s World Superbike Championship.

Within the same complex, you can find: a Race track, a Karting track, an Off-road park, a Hotel, Apartments, a Technology park, Sports complex.

IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS

On event days, especially on Sunday, 9 November, a large influx of spectators and vehicles is expected. To avoid queues and delays:

  • Arrive at the Circuit several hours in advance;

  • Allow enough time to park and walk to your grandstand.

  • Bring your ticket and identification document.

  • Follow the instructions of the authorities and support staff.

This will ensure a smoother experience and allow you to fully enjoy all the event’s activities.

ACCESS AND GRANDSTANDS

The Circuit has 9 grandstands, each with its own exclusive access gate.
The colour of the gate corresponds to the colour of the grandstand, and your ticket only allows access through the identified gate.

On-site, you will find clear signage for:

  • WC

  • Food and beverage outlets

  • Giant screens located near each grandstand, broadcasting the races live.

PARKING AND MOBILITY

Spectators will have two ways to reach the Circuit:

1. Dedicated Shuttle (Free):
Exclusive and free transport will be available upon presentation of the pass or ticket, departing from Portimão and Lagos.
The shuttles will begin service at 08h00 each day of the event, finishing at 12h00.
At the end of each day, after the programme concludes from 16h30 until 18h30, the buses will make the return trip, taking spectators back to Portimão and Lagos.

2. Private Vehicle:
Visitors may travel by private vehicle and park in the designated car parks surrounding the venue, according to the indicated map (with mandatory purchase of a parking permit for the Main Grandstand and free access to other areas).

To facilitate access, follow the signs corresponding to the colour of the park indicated on your ticket.

All on-site AIA car parks will have permanent security staff and support teams available to inform spectators about occupancy and availability.
Operating hours: 07:00 until two hours after the event ends.

The Algarve International Circuit has prepared several gravel car parks and one asphalt car park, available for cars or motorcycles:

  • Paid Car Park (Main Grandstand):
    Exclusive for those who purchase the parking permit.
    You can buy your permit here. Parking closer to the circuit is impossible!
  • Free Car Parks:
    Located between 10 and 30 minutes’ walking distance from the Circuit.
    We recommend choosing the car park located in the same area as your grandstand to reduce walking time.

PARKING AND TRAFFIC RULES

  • At the entrance of the car parks, follow the instructions of the attendants.
  • Always park in the direction of the exit.
  • Spaces are not marked and are subject to availability.
  • Parking spaces will not be sold at the circuit, the purchase of the permit must be made in advance.
  • Access will not be allowed to cars without a paid permit.
  • Keep the purchase receipt.

All car parks will have permanent security staff, as well as teams to provide information on capacity and availability.

The car parks within the AIA venue will be open from 07:00 until two hours after the event ends.

EXTERNAL CAR PARKS AND FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE

Free car parks will be available in Portimão and Lagos (subject to maximum capacity), from which free shuttles will depart to the Algarve International Circuit. Simply present your ticket to access the shuttles.

AFETY AND BEHAVIOUR RULES

At the circuit entrance, security staff will carry out electronic access control using barcode scanners.
The barcodes contain ticket information, and presentation of a personal identification document is mandatory.

Once inside the venue, directional signage will help spectators find their grandstand and seat, with staff available to provide assistance.

BEHAVIOUR INSIDE THE VENUE

The consumption of alcoholic beverages in the grandstands is strictly prohibited and is only allowed in designated outdoor areas, namely near the Main Grandstand.

Failure to comply with venue rules or security staff instructions may result in immediate expulsion from the circuit, without ticket refund.

Likewise, any spectator found to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances, or displaying inappropriate behaviour that compromises safety, well-being, or the proper running of the event, may be asked to leave the venue without reimbursement.

The venue will close daily approximately two hours after the end of activities.
Spectators are advised to remain calm when leaving and to strictly follow staff instructions to ensure safety and a smooth flow of people.

Signage and staff members will be available to guide spectators when leaving the grandstands and to manage crowd flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

On event days, and especially on Sunday, 9 November, there will be a very large influx of vehicles and spectators at the Circuit. Many fans hold Weekend tickets while others have tickets only for Sunday, meaning that this day will be even busier than the others.

Plan your journey carefully. To avoid long queues, we strongly recommend arriving at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve several hours before the start. Allow extra time to find the car park, secure a parking space, walk to your grandstand, go through ticket control, and locate your allocated seat. Arriving early will help ensure you have the best possible experience and do not miss any of the practice sessions or races.

The programme is extensive and full of entertainment from 09:00 in the morning until the end of the day. In addition, support facilities such as toilets, food and beverage outlets are spread across the Circuit and near the grandstands. Giant screens will also broadcast live coverage throughout the event so you can follow the action on track at all times.

Arrive at the Circuit as early as possible.

All vehicles must display the parking permit as proof of purchase. Vehicles without a permit will not be allowed to access the areas surrounding the Algarve International Circuit.

There are no storage facilities, so you should not bring equipment, or if you do, it is your responsibility to ensure its safekeeping and security.
